Last updated: 3 August 2026

DontGiveUp Interactive ("we", "us", "our") operates the game BallShot Arena (the "Game"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

We are the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data we collect

Account and identification

When you play the Game, an anonymous player account is created for you through Unity Authentication. This account is identified by a randomly generated player ID and is not linked to your name or email address unless you choose to sign in with a platform account.

If you play through Steam, we receive your Steam ID, your Steam display name, and your Steam avatar image so that lobbies, friends lists, and group invites can function.

If you play on iOS, Apple provides us with a purchase receipt when you buy something. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment card details from Apple.

Gameplay and progression data

We store the following against your player ID so that your progress persists across sessions and devices:

  • Level, experience, and battle pass progression

  • Items you own and items you have equipped

  • Daily challenge progress and completion

  • In-game currency balances

  • Purchase history for in-game items

  • Display name, if you set one

Multiplayer and session data

When you play online, we process your IP address and connection data in order to route you to a game server and to allow other players in your session to connect to you. Match results and gameplay events are processed to award progression.

Analytics and diagnostics

We collect aggregated gameplay analytics — such as session length, matches played, levels reached, and features used — to understand how the Game is played and to improve it. We also collect crash reports and error logs, which may include device model, operating system version, and technical details about the failure.

Payment data

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Valve (Steam). We never see or store your payment card details. We receive a confirmation that a purchase occurred, the product purchased, and the price and currency of the transaction.

Why we process your data, and on what legal basis

We process your data on the basis of performance of a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) in order to create and maintain your player account, save your progression, items, and currency, run online multiplayer sessions, and process and validate your purchases. Purchase records are also retained under a legal obligation, since French tax and accounting law requires us to keep them. We process your data on the basis of our legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) in order to carry out analytics and product improvement, collect crash reports and diagnostics, and prevent cheating, fraud, and abuse. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered the impact on your privacy and believe our interest in operating and improving the Game does not override your rights. You may object to this processing — see section 6.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following service providers, who process it on our behalf:

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to do so, or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep your data

  • Account and progression data is kept for as long as your account is active, and for up to 24 months after your last session, after which it may be deleted.

  • Purchase and transaction records are kept for 10 years, as required by French accounting and tax law.

  • Analytics data is retained in aggregated form and is not linked to an identifiable player after 25 months.

  • Crash and diagnostic logs are kept for up to 90 days.

You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see section 6.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")

  • Restrict how we process your data

  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests

  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these rights, email gamer@dontgiveupinteractive.com. We will respond within one month.

Because accounts are anonymous by default, we may need you to provide your in-game player ID so that we can identify your account. You can find it in the Game's settings.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In France, this is the CNIL: https://www.cnil.fr

Children

The Game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at gamer@dontgiveupinteractive.com and we will delete it.

Where required by local law, a higher minimum age may apply.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all communication between the Game and our services, and server-side validation of all progression and purchase data. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the Game.
